The weather did not mean well for the Oschatz gliders, pilots, friends and visitors, water was pouring down. Instead of having an amazing airplane show at May’s first Saturday, the people were allowed to enjoy an amazing music festival at the Flying Club Oschatz e.V. – with more than 16 DJs from all over the world.
Until 4 a.m. the crowd of thousands of electro, house and party music lovers were dancing to the beats by Steroact and MarkOh and watching the incredible laser shows of the A(i)rea24 festival.
The venue was the biggest surprise to all visitors: the party took place in one of the Flying’s Club original hangar! Many volunteers worked hard to prepare the hangar to make this happen – thank you so much for that!
It wasn’t until Sunday, 5th May, when the sun finally showed some mercy. Despite temperatures way below average, many people interested in airplanes, gliders and model aircrafts were arriving at the Flying Club Oschatz to enjoy the flight shows and aerobatic stunts.
Many of the planes even started off with a guest in the back seat – the Aero Festival provided a great opportunity to book a guest flight. The view was amazing.
Another opportunity was provided by our partner clubs from
Blomberg and the Oldtimer Segelflug Club Wasserkuppe, when they arrived with their own airplanes and gliders in Oschatz. I believe the crowd was amused by the open cockpit which made it necessary to wear an old pilot’s leather hat 🙂
And of course we were also taking care of the youngest among all visitors. Every child should get the chance to watch airplane fly and eventually learn to steer them itself. So what we did is to give aways guest flights for free – as part of our lottery event.
